The Advanced Engine Development Engineer plans, develops, and executes subsystem-level tests in a testing and development facility. The role participates in cross-functional development teams and includes data analysis, calibration development, identifying opportunities for data reduction, and leading the migration of lab-based activities to math-based methods. It requires creativity, initiative, independent judgment, and effective cross-organizational teamwork. The engineer follows development test units through the build process, supports setup and debugging to ensure test readiness, and reports timelines, results, conclusions, and recommendations to Advanced or Product Development Teams. In collaboration with technical experts, the role improves test methods, design features, and calibration strategies, which may involve understanding ECU algorithms, calibration processes, and virtual metrics used for hardware decisions. The engineer works with design and 1D/3D analysis teams, develops and executes tests for calibration and hardware evaluation, diagnoses test issues, and creates or uses post-processing tools to ensure data quality. The role also develops and maintains global standard work processes, collaborates with facilities and cross-functional teams to improve process and test efficiency, supports migration of Road and Lab activities to math-based models and analysis, and trains and mentors engineers. The position is categorized as hybrid, with in-person reporting to a designated location at least three times a week or at another frequency set by the manager. Travel for offsite testing may be required at less than 10%.
