About The Position

The Advanced Care Partner (ACP) is a specialized nursing-student role for individuals enrolled in or who have completed Med/Surg I, or an equivalent program course. The role builds on the Patient Care Assistant / Nurse Aide position and is commonly understood as a paid nurse internship. This is an onsite, PRN position with UCHealth at Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs, in the Med Surg 3rd Floor Tower A department. The schedule is nights, with 0.00 hours per two-week pay period. Pay is $19.10–$24.83 per hour, depending on relevant experience. The ACP provides direct patient care under the delegation and/or supervision of a nurse or healthcare provider. Care may include gathering vital signs, measuring blood glucose, performing sterile dressing changes, starting peripheral IVs, and measuring intake and output. The ACP also assists patients with personal care, activities of daily living, and progressive mobility, and helps keep the care area stocked, clean, and orderly. The ACP partners with specialized ancillary team members, welcomes new knowledge, and may precept people new to healthcare and/or UCHealth.

Requirements

Be enrolled in and in good standing in an accredited nursing program.
Provide proof at the time of application of enrollment in or completion of Med/Surg I, or a program equivalent.
Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care under the delegation and/or supervision of a nurse or healthcare provider.
Gather vital signs and measure blood glucose.
Perform sterile dressing changes and start peripheral IVs.
Measure patient intake and output.
Assist patients with personal care, activities of daily living, and progressive mobility.
Help keep the care area stocked, clean, and orderly.
Prioritize wellness and patient perspectives.
Model proficiency through precepting people new to healthcare and/or UCHealth.
Partner effectively with specialized ancillary team members.
Contribute to safety and quality at the point of care.
