Advanced ATE Software Engineer

Honeywell Aerospace•Richardson, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

As an Advanced Test Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will advance the quality and reliability of aerospace products by developing and executing sophisticated test solutions for Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs). You will analyze test requirements and customer specifications, design Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems, and create test strategies, plans, acceptance procedures, and design verification processes. The role includes developing custom test equipment and fixtures, performing RF test setup, calibration, validation, on-wafer probe testing, and troubleshooting complex assemblies to support accurate, repeatable measurements. You will develop and maintain automated test software using LabVIEW and other programming languages, integrating instrumentation and databases to enable scalable, efficient, high-throughput testing. Additional work includes RF characterization, failure analysis and root-cause investigations, product qualification and environmental stress testing, statistical analysis, and technical reporting. You will also support laboratory operations, including test data systems, equipment calibration and maintenance, asset tracking, and vendor procurement. Precision microscope work for inspection, assembly support, and failure analysis is required. The position is based in Richardson, Texas, reports to the Engineering Manager, and follows a 9/80 work schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • At least 5 years of RF experience specific to ATE for RF/microwave components, including component development and testing and building rack-and-stack test equipment.
  • At least 3 years of test software development experience, including LabVIEW, Python, MSQL, C, and C++.
  • At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing or a high-tech electronics industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint and Excel.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by U.S. export control laws and regulations: a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience developing ATE software and operating RF test equipment, including wafer probe stations, VNAs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and RF calibration standards.
  • Expertise in RF characterization of GaN/GaAs MMICs, including S-parameter, large-signal, two-tone, and stability testing through Ka-band.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings and apply electronics and microwave theory fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with RF test fixtures, PCB design and assembly, and wire bonding MMIC devices for test readiness.
  • Ability to perform precision work under a microscope with sub-micron geometries.
  • Familiarity with DoD and military qualification and testing standards.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and independently with accountability and initiative.
  • Adaptability, problem-solving ability, a continuous improvement mindset, and strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain automated ATE test software using LabVIEW, Python, C, C++, Visual Basic, and other industry-standard test development tools.
  • Analyze customer specifications to define MMIC test requirements, configurations, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and implement test plans covering ATE configurations, fixtures, and software and hardware interfaces.
  • Perform RF characterization of MMIC and semiconductor devices, including S-parameter, output-power, noise-figure, and two-tone measurements.
  • Set up, calibrate, and execute RF test systems and on-wafer probe testing using appropriate standards.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex RF circuits using microwave theory.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and generate detailed technical reports on test results and performance.
  • Manage laboratory operations, including test databases, equipment calibration, asset tracking, and vendor procurement support.
  • Develop test strategies, acceptance procedures, and design verification processes for MMIC test solutions.
  • Perform failure analysis, root-cause investigations, product qualification, and environmental stress testing.
  • Support laboratory operations through equipment maintenance and precision microscope work for inspection, assembly support, and failure analysis.
