Advanced ATE Software Engineer

Honeywell Aerospace•Richardson, TX
•Onsite

About The Position

As an Advanced Test Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will advance the quality and reliability of aerospace products by developing and executing sophisticated test plans and procedures. You will lead development of test solutions for Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs), analyze detailed requirements, and design Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems to customer specifications. The work includes developing test strategies, acceptance procedures, and design verification processes, as well as planning and coordinating custom test equipment development, including fixture design and fabrication. You will perform RF test setup, calibration, validation, and troubleshooting of complex assemblies, and develop and maintain automated test software using National Instruments LabVIEW and other tools. The role also includes failure analysis and root-cause investigations for MMIC devices and RF assemblies; product qualification and environmental stress testing; technical reporting and test-data management; and laboratory support such as asset tracking and equipment maintenance. Precision work under microscopes for inspection, assembly support, and failure analysis is required. The position is based in Richardson, Texas, follows a 9/80 work schedule, and reports to the Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • At least 5 years of RF experience specific to ATE for RF/microwave components, including component development and testing and experience building rack-and-stack test equipment.
  • At least 3 years of test software development experience, including LabVIEW, Python, MSQL, C, and C++.
  • At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing or a high-tech electronics industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint and Excel.
  • Must be a U.S. person, defined as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience developing ATE software and operating RF test equipment, including wafer probe stations, VNAs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and RF calibration standards.
  • Strong RF characterization expertise for GaN/GaAs MMICs, including S-parameters, large-signal, two-tone, and stability testing through Ka-band.
  • Proficiency interpreting schematics and technical drawings and applying core electronics and microwave theory fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with RF test fixtures, PCB design and assembly, including wire bonding of MMIC devices for test readiness.
  • Ability to perform precision work under a microscope with sub-micron geometries.
  • Familiarity with DoD/military qualification and testing standards.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally while also operating independently with accountability and initiative.
  • Adaptability, problem-solving, and continuous-improvement mindset, with strong organizational and time-management skills in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain automated ATE test software using LabVIEW, Python, C, C++, Visual Basic, and other industry-standard test-development tools to improve efficiency and data integrity.
  • Analyze customer specifications to define MMIC testing requirements, configurations, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive test plans, including ATE configurations, fixtures, and software/hardware interfaces.
  • Perform RF characterization of MMIC and semiconductor testing devices, including S-parameters, output power, noise figure, and two-tone measurements.
  • Set up, calibrate, and execute RF test systems and on-wafer probe testing using appropriate standards.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex RF circuits independently using microwave theory knowledge.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and generate detailed technical reports on test results and performance.
  • Manage laboratory operations, including test databases, equipment calibration, asset tracking, and vendor procurement support.
  • Conduct failure analysis and root-cause investigations for MMIC devices and RF assemblies.
  • Execute product qualification and environmental stress testing to meet industry standards.
  • Support laboratory operations through equipment maintenance and test-data-system management.
  • Perform precision microscope work for inspection, assembly support, and failure analysis.
