About The Position

The New York Yankees are seeking an Affiliate Advance Scouting Analyst for its Baseball Operations department, based in Tampa, Florida. The analyst will be on staff with and travel alongside a minor league affiliate team. The role is responsible for the day-to-day creation, education, and implementation of high-quality advance reports, and for providing analysis to players and coaches. The analyst will apply data-driven skills and collaborate across departments to support affiliate operations and player development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Demonstrated advanced baseball knowledge and familiarity with sabermetric principles and advanced metrics.
• Ability to explain complex information and filter it to applicable levels.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with technical and non-technical personnel.
• Ability to multitask and work toward several milestones across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Open-mindedness, innovation, and progressive thinking, including openness to new ideas and philosophies and willingness to challenge traditional baseball principles.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency with SQL or other modern database technologies preferred.
• Experience with programming languages such as R or Python preferred.
• Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct day-to-day advance scouting operations at a minor league affiliate and serve as the point person for creating and implementing advance materials.
• Provide statistical analysis and quantitative research to support affiliate coaches and players.
• Seek data-driven answers to strategic questions and consult with the Quantitative Analysis department on research.
• Educate coaches, staff, and players on NYY advance concepts and philosophy, and support their implementation.
• Collaborate with Player Development, Quantitative Analysis, and Performance Science to ensure affiliate initiatives are implemented and executed.
• Assist Player Development in creating and implementing individual player development and objective plans.
• Support on-field needs, including operating NYY technologies.
