This role is for an Advance Practice Nurse (APN) within the Inpatient Hematology Oncology department. The APN will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, providing assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient and family needs throughout the disease process. The position focuses on delivering optimal patient care, from diagnostic to prognostic matters, in collaboration with supervising/collaborating physicians. Responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests, and managing patient treatment plans. The APN may perform procedures, prescribe treatments and medications, and function as an assistant in operative cases when appropriate. The role also involves patient and family education, providing psychosocial support, managing information and documentation according to hospital and regulatory requirements, and ensuring quality patient care. Continuous professional development and engagement in quality improvement projects are expected.
