About The Position

The Adult Recreation Coordinator is responsible for planning, setting up, and overseeing activities and events at the Community Center. This role assists with the operations of the Recreation Department, including all resources such as the facility, gym, tournaments, and classes during assigned shifts. The coordinator is also responsible for creating tournaments and leagues for various sports and ensuring equipment and machines are in working order.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Two (2) year experience in coordinating group activities.
A valid First Aid/CPR Card or ability to obtain certification within 30 days after beginning employment.
A valid driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribe’s automobile insurance.
Skilled in supervisory techniques and practices to include managing, scheduling, knowledge of sports, coordinating, and monitoring work of others; motivational techniques; communicating effectively verbally and in writing; listening effectively; observing reactions/interactions of others; problem-solving; conflict resolution; evaluating options and implementing solutions; using a computer and standard office equipment.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required.
Knowledge of mathematics; the English language including composition and grammar; methods of teaching and instruction for individuals and groups; laws and government regulations; human behavior and performance; learning and motivation; Native American culture and history; drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
Ability to maintain confidentiality; maintain a positive attitude and work ethic; effectively communicate information and ideas, both written and verbal; comprehend information, both written and verbal; form culturally competent, non-judgmental, supportive and empowering relationships with youth; gather and interpret data, reach logical conclusions, and present findings and recommendations; use independent judgment.
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Current and valid Washington state driver’s license.
First Aid / CPR certification.
Food Handlers permit.

Responsibilities

Assisting with the operations of the Recreation Department, including all resources (i.e. facility, gym, tournaments and classes) during assigned shift.
Creating tournaments and leagues such as basketball, volley ball, pickle ball, flag football etc.
Ensuring that the equipment and machines are working during assigned shift.
Helping other staff in coaching set-up for events or activities.
Maintaining program vehicles, mileage logs; reports any damage/maintenance repairs as needed.
Maintaining program equipment/supplies; reports any damage/maintenance repairs as needed.
Following administrative and program policies and procedures within assigned areas.
Performing other job-related tasks and special assignments as required by the Supervisor.
Assist with the cleaning and closing of the building for all events scheduled at the Community Center and inspect after events for proper clean up by user.
Representing the organization in a positive manner.
Maintaining dress standards and personal appearance as dictated by your job.
Meeting attendance guidelines by reporting to work as scheduled with dependability and consistency.
Establishing a network of relationships with other Tribal departments and outside agencies that may provide services or resources.
Performing a wide range of office and field duties from time to time, which may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
