The Radiographer I, under direct supervision, performs routine Diagnostic X-Ray examinations using fixed and/or portable equipment in accordance with established protocols, safety guidelines and quality standards. This role is available in levels 1-3 based on experience, education, and/or certification and licensure. The Radiographer performs diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider in routine or emergent conditions, ensuring testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centric care. Assists with basic fluoroscopic procedures when required. Prepares patients for procedures and reviews clinical history to align with provider-ordered tests. Safely administers contrast per protocol and identifies, manages, and escalates contrast reactions and changes in patient condition. Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines. Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care. Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards. Accurately documents in EMR/PACS per organizational policies and procedures. Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician. Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines. Ensures that technical quality of testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards. Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested. May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program. May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members. May provide on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.
