About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Pretrial, Probation & Parole, is recruiting for an Adult Probation Officer 1/2B located in Palmer, Alaska. Job duties of a field Probation Officer include working directly with felony offenders by conducting office meetings, interviews, completing risk/need assessments, urinalysis tests, providing referrals for treatment needs, conducting field contacts, as well as violation arrests. This position may be tasked with conducting presentence investigations and preparing reports for the Court. Our mission is to enhance public safety by providing supervision that holds defendants accountable, while connecting them to resources that can provide an individual the tools for long-term change and success.

Requirements

• Be 21 years of age and a United States citizen or a United States National
• Possess a high school or home school diploma recognized or certified by a state or a local school district within a state as having met that state's graduation requirement; or have a General Educational Development certificate
• Possess a valid driver's license issued within the United States at time of appointment
• Must have a full criminal history check
• Must complete and submit a notarized F-3 Personal History Statement Form
• Must submit certified Highschool/GED transcripts
• Must submit birth certificate or valid passport
• Must submit HS Foreign Equivalency Evaluation, if applicable
• Must submit Naturalization certificate, if applicable
• Must submit DD-214 form, if applicable
• Must submit Military Evaluations, if applicable
• Must pass a background investigation
• Must pass a drug screening
• Must pass a medical examination
• Must pass a psychological evaluation
• Must be honest and provide accurate information in application, during interview, and during background investigation
• Must have a legal right to accept employment in the United States
• Must be fingerprinted
• Must pass a criminal history check
• Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
