About The Position

The AMH Respite Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and providing care to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. This role involves applying appropriate crisis intervention techniques and completing timely documentation in the electronic health record. The Supervisor will also manage after-hours issues at the Respite Facility through an on-call rotation. Key duties include scheduling and supervising Respite Care Providers, monitoring their documentation, and ensuring the facility is clean and well-maintained. The position requires exercising independent judgment within established policies and procedures. Additionally, the Respite Supervisor assists with care coordination, individual skills training, psychosocial interventions, intake protocols, screening tools, and discharge planning, all within an environment designed for short-term stabilization of behavioral health symptoms. The Supervisor is expected to foster an environment of safety, trust, transparency, and collaboration with consumers and Respite Care providers, and to implement principles of trauma-informed care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or advanced Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, or early childhood intervention
  • High School Diploma
  • One year of experience in a similar or related position, either public or private sector
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a rapid pace environment in an organized and professional manner
  • Ability to self-monitor production and quality with minimal assistance
  • Proficient in the use of electronic data systems including electronic health records and business software such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to develop productive relationships with individuals and family members that focus on individual specific outcomes
  • Ability to recognize barriers and coordination issues between service systems, and to advocate effectively for individuals served
  • Organization and typing skills are a must
  • The ability to work as a team member in a diverse environment interfacing with both internal and external referrals
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Must be insurable under the Center’s insurance policy
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in mental health services and knowledge about community resources
  • Experience with tracking data and timely data reporting
