About The Position

Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part-Time Nursing Faculty interested in teaching with our BSN Nursing program online. You will be teaching students in the role of facilitator, role model, coach and advisor. Incorporating Chamberlain Care philosophy to educate and embolden diverse nursing professionals in a culture where students and colleagues thrive and cultivate extraordinary nursing graduates. Part-time professors lead asynchronous discussions and teach synchronous live lectures each week, (scheduling AM and PM options for students) and will be available via email, online conferencing or telephone, to provide support and respond to student's enquiries in a timely manner. We are presently accepting applications in the following areas of course specialization: NR-324: Adult Health I The focus of this course is on the needs of adult patients and their families in relation to health promotion and management of conditions that require acute and chronic care. The nursing process is used in the discussion of health alterations affecting selected life processes. Students continue their professional skill development as members of the health team. A variety of populations and settings are used in the experiential learning component of this course. NR-325: Adult Health II This course focuses on alterations in life processes, including the effect on the patient’s family. The nursing process is used to make clinical decisions and foster health restoration and maintenance. Emphasis on discharge planning is included. A variety of populations and settings are used in the experiential learning component of this course.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Unencumbered professional nurse licensure (must also be willing to obtain a license in the state of Illinois if one is not already obtained)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years teaching experience
  • Excellent communication skills with high level of initiative and prudent judgment.
  • Have genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning
  • Have exceptional subject matter expertise in the field of instruction with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Are eager to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect and care
  • Operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose with the desire to enrich colleagues, students, and the broader community

Responsibilities

  • Provides students with an approved Chamberlain syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
  • Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and update all course materials as needed.
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
