About The Position

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (APOM) at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a generalist-intensivist to join the Critical Care Activation and Adult Anesthesiology teams. OHSU is Oregon's only academic health center, specializing in excellent perioperative care and anesthesia services using state-of-the-art technology with an emphasis on patient safety. The department performs over 75,000 procedures annually across various inpatient and outpatient settings. The department comprises over 380 members, including faculty physicians, resident physicians, and certified nurse anesthetists, and is integral to OHSU's healthcare, education, and research missions. Requirements

Doctorate in medicine
Residency training in Anesthesiology
Fellowship in critical care medicine
Demonstrated competence in patient care
Demonstrated competence in teaching
Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Anesthesiology
Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Anesthesiology Critical Care

Responsibilities

Provide anesthesia services in the operating room and procedural locations, including ambulatory facilities and non-OR anesthesia sites.
Participate in medical direction of nurse anesthetists and resident supervision.
Provide independent anesthesia care in all locations.
Provide critical care as part of the Critical Care Activation Team (CCAT).
Provide critical care support throughout the OHSU health system, including triaging escalation of care for patients outside the ICUs and supporting Code Blue and Rapid Response teams.
Support critically ill patients in community hospitals throughout Oregon through tele-ICU rounds.
Supervise and instruct residents and fellows, and collaborate with advanced practice providers in a multidisciplinary and interprofessional team.
Incorporate appropriate teaching of learners into daily practice.
Participate in formal teaching of trainees and allied staff through assigned lectures and modeling best practices.
Attend team meetings and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain an outstanding level of professional performance in compliance with all relevant regulating bodies.
Treat all patients, families, research subjects, students, trainees, and co-workers with dignity and respect.
Maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of diseases, or scholarly activities focused toward improving the educational foundation within anesthesiology and perioperative medicine.
