About The Position

Compass Health Center is seeking an Adult Family Therapist to join their innovative team. As a leading provider of PHP/IOP programs and psychiatric services in Illinois, Compass Health Center is expanding its programs and is looking for talented individuals to build their adolescent and adult programs. The Family Therapist will play a key role in multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring synergy across treatment by conducting family sessions aimed at providing support, education, and collaboration. This role will work with patients aged 18+ in the Mood & Anxiety Program and offers opportunities for cross-training in specialty programs such as School refusal, OCD/Complex Anxiety, Mental Health and Substance Use, and Trauma. The ideal candidate is eager to collaborate with various clinicians and patient populations, and to broaden their clinical skillset through ample training and support.

Requirements

  • Licensed Doctorate Level Psychologist, Masters Level Clinician with clinical license, or a postgraduate degree in a healthcare field
  • Two years, post master’s family therapy experience
  • Possess a core skill set of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Nice To Haves

  • Two years, post master’s experience working in higher levels of care
  • Experience with or interest in working with those who struggle with substance use, trauma, OCD/Complex Anxiety

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating family sessions to a caseload of assigned patients and their loved ones
  • Providing guidance and support to patients and family members to help promote goals and encourage patients progress through the program.
  • Providing direction to families about effective ways of supporting patients. Discussion topics and family therapy goals include safety plans, incorporating skill implementation, improving communication, creating behavior contracts.
  • Works with various presenting issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, school avoidance and refusal, and OCD among others.
  • Assisting in supporting families through phone coaching and follow-up calls.
  • Supporting patients in crisis.
  • Coordinating with the treatment team. This involves attending rounds and other program meetings regularly as well as using the electronic systems of communication.
  • Communicating with outside providers conducting family therapy for continuity of care.
  • Collaborating with the treatment team in assessing the patient’s progress and need for higher level of care, stepdown, or discharge.
  • Helping the family to coordinate an effective discharge plan.
  • Providing individual support to patients as needed.
  • Contributing clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Charting progress of patients appropriately in the electronic medical record.
  • Participating in program meetings as needed.
  • Working on projects focused on program improvement and the overall growth and development of Compass.
  • Provide group therapy and primary therapy, as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned
