About The Position

An Adult Education Teacher provides adult students educational instruction that will foster and accelerate their intellectual, physical, social, and career development in accordance with district policies and procedures. This position requires the teacher to give instruction in partnership with JCAP (Jail Chemical Addiction Program) in Kosciusko and Whitley Counties.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)
Ability to work off-site with minimal supervision as needed.
Budgeted time, 10 hours a week when programming is scheduled.

Nice To Haves

Valid Indiana Teaching License preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction to incarcerated individuals participating in the Jail Chemical Addiction Program (JCAP), which includes traveling to and teaching within the county jail setting.
Prepare students for certificates and/or the High School Equivalency (HSE) exam.
Maintain confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.
Assist students in achieving their academic goals.
Collect appropriate data from formative and summative assessments to increase continued student learning.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Make effective use of planning time.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques, facilitating the use of technology and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
Develop reasonable rules of behavior and procedure in the classroom and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Support and implement strategies that enhance student performance on local, state, and federal assessments (TABE, HiSET, GED, and ACT Workkeys).
Perform other duties as assigned at the request of the Adult Education Director.
