About The Position

The Adult Education, part-time ESOL/HSE instructor will teach assigned ESOL and/or HSE classes, either remotely or in person, during the day or evening. This role involves planning and delivering lessons according to MA English Language Proficiency Standards (MA ELPS), assessing student progress, and providing guidance to help students achieve their academic and career goals. The instructor will also complete required training, collaborate with lead teachers, assist with student registration and assessment, and participate in staff meetings and professional development. Additionally, the role includes integrating digital literacy, collaborating with community partners, and maintaining accurate student records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 3 years of successful teaching experience in any capacity
• Experience teaching adult learners, including refugees and immigrants.
• Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse adult populations.
• Knowledge of performance standards and effective instructional practices that support the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards (MA ELPS).
• Understanding of adult second-language acquisition and literacy development.
• Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and technology skills.
• Proficiency in using instructional technology, including Microsoft Outlook and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned ESOL and/or HSE classes during the day or evening, remotely or in person.
• Plan and deliver lessons utilizing curriculum according to MA English Language Proficiency Standards (MA ELPS).
• Assess student progress and provide guidance and support as students develop their academic and language skills and pursue their educational and career goals.
• Complete required training in DESE-approved assessment tools.
• Collaborate with lead teachers on curriculum development and implementation.
• Assist with student registration, assessment, and placement.
• Participate in scheduled staff meetings and professional development activities.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, goals, progress, and other required information.
• Integrate digital literacy into instruction and collaborate with community partner programs.
