About The Position

ESL Paraprofessional for Adult Education program in Ionia. This role involves working under the supervision of the Adult Education Director and/or classroom teacher, assisting students individually or in small groups with academic tasks based on established lesson plans and routines. The position requires building and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and school personnel, as well as maintaining records in compliance with state and federal regulations. Additional duties may be assigned by the teacher or director to support student success.

Requirements

  • Effective and acceptable techniques of human relations in dealing with students, staff members, other school officials, parents, and the public.
  • Willingness to work individually and in small groups with challenging students.
  • Ability to treat school matters as confidential information.
  • Skilled in the operation and knowledge of office machines and computers.
  • Punctuality and In-Person Attendance is essential.
  • Prospective hires must provide fingerprinting and background check results to the District prior to employment, pursuant to State of Michigan Student Safety Legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of the Adult Education Director and/or classroom teacher according to lesson plans and routines set up by the teacher.
  • Work with students on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of students in academic areas.
  • Build and maintain appropriate relationships with the student, parents, and school personnel.
  • Maintain records as indicated by classroom teacher and/or administrator.
  • Comply with state and federal record-keeping regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the classroom teacher and/or Adult Education Director to support student success.
