About The Position

Assists the Principal (Program Manager) with administering the day to day operations of the Adult Education program. Supports staff members and students in all aspects of the teaching and learning process. Maintains responsibility for the smooth operation of the program, as well as all equipment and materials. Works approximately 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Significant knowledge of federal and state laws governing the adult education of all students.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and technical communication skills.
  • Familiarity and proficiency using and managing Microsoft office products (i.e., word, excel, outlook, email, database, etc.).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Excellent diplomacy skills in managing difficult people and difficult situations.
  • Excellent knowledge of the processes related to effective teaching and learning.
  • Strong supervisory and decision-making skills.
  • A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Excellent communication and record keeping skills.
  • At least 3 years of experience providing adult education or instructional training.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3 years of recent successful experience as an Adult Education teacher, supervisor, or administrator with preference given to experience at the supervisory or administrative level.
  • Master’s Degree in relevant field experience from accredited institution and courses in professional education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with program development, coordination, and time-sensitive deliverables for English Language Learners (ELL), GED® preparation, and workforce development programs
  • Maintain and update student records, perform trending analysis on student data within the National Reporting System, and implement programmatic adjustments based on NRS data analysis
  • Partner with all stakeholders including regional leadership, program manager, teachers, students, and families
  • Serve as a representative for Hanover County with the broader Region 15, communicate and implement Region 15 initiatives locally
  • Substitute when needed when staff are unable to teach for a given class
  • Develop and distribute program flyers, online content, and newspaper advertisements
  • Arrange and coordinate program needs at multiple class locations throughout the county
  • Perform system administration for teacher and student user accounts for distance learning software
  • Evaluate and procure program supplies within grant specifications and budget
  • Conduct interviews, testing, registration and placement of new students
  • Identify need for and provide additional support to students with disabilities
  • Assist with aspects of student payment, assist in collections for delinquent accounts, make arrangements for financial hardship
  • Serve as the main point of contact for teaching staff (1.Participate in staff interviews, 2.Observe in classrooms, 3.Implement and communicate best teaching practices, 4.Coordinate submission of Lesson Plans)
  • Teaches adult education class at the Pamunkey Regional Jail, as scheduled
