About The Position

Savannah Technical College seeks qualified candidates to tutor adult education High School Equivalency (HSE)/GED and ESL students. This grant-funded position provides tutoring in Math, English/Reading, Science, or Social Studies under general supervision. The tutor uses appropriate tutoring techniques, offers positive feedback, discusses student progress with appropriate staff and faculty, and maintains a warm, encouraging attitude. The tutor also uses appropriate assessment procedures, maintains records, communicates effectively orally and in writing, advises and counsels students, maintains advisement records, keeps classrooms and labs in accordance with institutional safety guidelines, and attends meetings as required and appropriate. The position is contingent upon funding and allocation of the position.

Requirements

Be a current college student or college graduate with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the subject area to be tutored from a regionally accredited institution; alternatively, demonstrate the ability and experience in the subject field.

Responsibilities
