About The Position

Savannah Technical College is seeking qualified candidates to tutor adult education High School Equivalency (HSE)/GED and English as a Second Language (ESL) students. This grant-funded position provides tutorial services in Math, English/Reading, Science, or Social Studies under general supervision. The tutor uses appropriate tutoring and assessment techniques, provides positive feedback, discusses student progress with appropriate staff and faculty, and maintains a warm, encouraging attitude. The role also includes advising and counseling students, maintaining advisement and other records, communicating effectively orally and in writing, keeping classrooms and labs in accordance with institutional safety guidelines, and attending meetings as required. The position is contingent upon funding and allocation.

Requirements

Be a current college student or college graduate with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and a GPA of at least 3.0 in the subject area to be tutored from a regionally accredited institution, or be an outside applicant who demonstrates ability and experience in the subject field.
Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in the subject area to be tutored.

Responsibilities
