About The Position

The purpose of this position is to assist adults in becoming literate and obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and economic self-sufficiency. This role involves providing high-quality, research-based instruction in reading, writing, and mathematical skills to raise educational functional levels and/or to obtain a high school equivalency. The instructor will also assist staff in recruitment, goal setting, instruction, and embedding work readiness activities. Additionally, the position supports, documents, and identifies professional development for classroom aides and tutors. It includes providing case management and coordinating vocational and community support services for individuals with disadvantaged conditions and/or barriers to employment to help them obtain and succeed in community employment or further education. Services are delivered in correctional institutions and community settings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Demonstrated experience working with adult learners.
• Must be capable of conforming to high standards of behavior.
• Excellent work habits, including attendance and punctuality.
• Must follow company policies and safety procedures.
• Must assure that students under supervision follow policies and safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in providing case management or vocational services to individuals with barriers to employment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in program improvement efforts.
• Provides intake, data collection, and data input for outcome tracking.
• Provides initial and on-going assessment of student’s abilities and skills.
• Supports student success in career pathways, helping students acquire the knowledge and basic skills, including critical thinking and problem solving, necessary to earn a secondary school credential and to transition to and succeed in employment and/or postsecondary education or training.
• Provides education and instruction in a variety of basic methods to appeal to varying learning styles and abilities.
• Incorporates the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) into curricula.
• Creates lesson plans with CCRS-aligned objectives, clearly articulating lesson sequencing, instructional materials, and presentation/conduct of learning activities.
• Ensures strategies make career awareness and workforce skills a central context for learning.
• Provides instruction to classes that will include large-group, small-group, and one-on-one instruction.
