About The Position

The Adult Discipleship Pastor plays a vital role in strategically leading the church’s adult ministry by fostering spiritual growth and equipping individuals to live out the mission of the church through relational discipleship. This role fosters a disciple-making culture, with a focus on developing, equipping, and investing in small group leaders to lead healthy disciple-making cultures within our small groups. A central responsibility is to develop and implementing strategies that inspire adults to grow as disciples of Christ who can then disciple others. The Adult Discipleship Pastor will work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers to create and execute strategies aimed to promote personal Spiritual growth and biblical learning that will lead to stronger connections and empower individuals to live on mission within the context of meaningful relationship.

Requirements

  • A fully committed follower of Jesus Christ and a member of The Met Church (or willing to transfer membership to The Met).
  • Agree with and act in accordance with The Met’s Statement of Beliefs.
  • Minimum 8 years of ministry leadership in a discipleship focused environment or equivalent experience.
  • 5 year's experience living out the Real Life Discipleship method of disciple-making, have attended a DiscipleShift conference, or equivalent experience at a Relational Discipleship Network church.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Have been called by God into full-time ministry and are actively involved in making disciples who go and make other disciples of Jesus Christ.
  • Actively investing in others living out the concept of being a disciple-maker.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Able to quickly learn and adapt to new technology & systems.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master of Divinity (MDiv) from an accredited seminary strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Live out the core virtues and mission of The Met to invite others into meaningful relationship with God and each other.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure that The Met’s mission and vision of relational discipleship are effectively promoted and implemented across all aspects of the adult discipleship ministry responsibilities.
  • Develop and track clear, strategic goals and objectives for Small Group Pastors, mentors and leaders, ensuring continuous growth and effectiveness within the Adult Discipleship ministry.
  • Provide ongoing leadership and oversight to a team of direct reports, fostering an environment where discipleship opportunities are created, and both spiritual and leadership growth are prioritized. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to discuss ministry responsibilities, guide personal spiritual development, and support leadership growth.
  • Collaboratively create a strategy & framework for men’s, women’s, and senior adult ministires that align with the overall adult discipleship vision.
  • Create a strategy and framework for Bible studies/course offerings that are targeted to all levels of spiritual maturity.
  • Foster a relational leadership culture within the small group ministry, emphasizing the importance of invitation, personal spiritual health, training, modeling, delegating, empowering others to lead, and creating opportunities for growth and multiplication.
  • Strategically plan and execute events that create an entry for new people, fostor community and ultimately engage unconnected individuals into small group environments.
  • Monitor and track small group health and attendance and provide a framework for increasing overall group health and assimilation into groups for the church.
  • Partner with the Marketing & Communications to create compelling promotional materials that raise awareness for ministry initiatives and events.
  • Disciple and develop spiritually mature leaders to support small groups and Bible studies.
  • Provide pastoral care, counseling, and support to individuals and leaders.
  • Serve as part of the pastoral staff to conduct baptisms, communion, weddings, funerals and other pastoral duties as needed.
  • Cultivate a spirit of humility, openness to giving and receiving feedback, and a commitment to continuous improvement of self and your team(s).
