About The Position
James L. West Senior Day Program offers a vibrant, safe, and engaging Adult Day Program designed specifically for individuals with memory loss. We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and creative team member to help enrich our participants’ lives. This role involves facilitating dementia-friendly activities and providing hands-on assistance with daily needs, while creating a calm, structured, and joyful environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be 18 years old
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to lift and assist individuals safely
- Must pass background check, drug screen, and TB/health clearance
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in dementia care, senior care, or adult day programs strongly preferred
- CNA or HHA certification a plus
Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging, dementia-friendly activities such as music therapy, art projects, reminiscence groups, sensory stimulation, and guided movement
- Provide hands-on assistance with meals, toileting, mobility, and other daily needs, always preserving dignity and comfort
- Use gentle redirection, validation techniques, and positive communication to support participants
- Help create a calm, structured, and joyful environment that promotes safety and well-being
- Build relationships with families and work closely with a multidisciplinary team of caregivers, nurses, and activity specialists
