About The Position

Responsible for management of Cedar Bluff ADC and oversight of Falls Mills and Haysi ADC’s. Plans, develops, and implements advocacy services and programs for clients and their caregivers. Provides recreational and therapeutic services to individuals attending the adult day center while providing caregiver support. Acts as liaison with supporting agencies and professionals. Problems encountered range from routine to complex in nature; significant public contact is required, and position requires independent decision-making and action. The Adult Day Center Director is responsible for the delivery of all day-to-day operations and services in the day center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a human services or health care field
  • Two (2) years of professional experience
  • At least one year of experience working with older adults or persons with disabilities
  • Knowledge of the aging process and the impact of disabilities and illnesses
  • Knowledge of the challenges for geriatric individuals in long-term care or assisted living facilities along with the impact on caregivers
  • Knowledge of state and local long-term care systems
  • Knowledge of the Department of Social Services and other public benefit programs related to the geriatric population
  • Ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate budgets
  • Ability to manage team members, while organizing, planning, and implementing programs
  • Ability to supervise and train staff and volunteers
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills and analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public
  • Skill in interviewing, negotiation, and advocacy
  • Must demonstrate and maintain strong work ethics

Responsibilities

  • Oversees organization, scheduling, and implementation of program services for individuals attending the day center
  • Assists in recruiting and scheduling participants and volunteers for the day center program
  • Supervises, schedules, and evaluates day center staff and assures orientation, training, and ongoing education for day center staff members and volunteers
  • Completes required client assessments timely, appropriately, and in compliance with both Department of Social Services and PACE regulations
  • Conducts on-going evaluations of participants' health status. Including physical abilities, social, emotional, and mental functioning. Changes to be discussed with participant, family, legal representative, physician, or others as appropriate. Documentation of changes to be noted in record. Creates and updates participant-centric plans of care accordingly.
  • Maintains and submits all licensure and recertifications for licensed Adult Daycare Centers including Medicaid and Veteran’s Affairs
  • Identifies, documents, and monitors factors affecting the well-being of participants
  • Monitors the development and implementation of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies that relate to adult daycare. Ensures any revisions to regulations or guidelines are initiated and maintained in adult daycare center.
  • Conducts publicity and outreach efforts to support growth and raise awareness of adult day center services
  • Maintains records and documentation in accordance with all policies and procedures
  • Prepares all program reports in proper format and submits to appropriate entities in timely manner
  • Assists clients with ADL’s and IADL’s as indicated and needed
  • Performs other agency-related services as warranted
  • Attends training and continuing education activities as required
  • Fulfills day center administrative requirements such as data collection and reporting
  • Maintains equipment located in the day center
  • Upholds participant confidentiality, privacy, and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Oversight of the coordination of intergenerational activities (examples: training, outings, socialization activities, etc.)
  • Ensures and assist in providing coverage for ADC Supervisors during staffing vacations, holidays, and as otherwise needed while maintaining staff-to-participant ratios and providing supervision to meet guidelines.
  • Responsible for program budget and oversight of purchasing activities
  • Responsible for Cedar Bluff, Falls Mills, and Haysi Day centers.
  • Ensures parameters of infection control program are met to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment. Oversees that updates and recommendations of changes are implemented and maintained in adult daycare center.
