About The Position

The Administrative Leadership program, housed in the Department of Educational Psychology, is seeking a Core Teaching Faculty member for its Adult, Continuing, and Higher Education concentration. This program aims to develop future leaders in educational settings, including elementary, secondary, and post-secondary programs, as well as non-profit, governmental, and industry roles. The successful candidate will primarily focus on the Adult, Continuing, and Higher Education concentration, which is the only master's program at UWM tailored for careers in higher education and student affairs administration, and leadership in adult learning. This is a 9-month position with the possibility of summer teaching. The role involves teaching graduate-level courses, serving as a core faculty member, attending program functions, and providing administrative service to the program. There is also an interest in candidates who can contribute to an EdD program in Organizational Leadership. The program emphasizes culturally informed and equitable pedagogy and training.

Requirements

  • Hold an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in higher education, student affairs, adult education, or a closely-related field from an accredited higher education institution by the time of application.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach online graduate-level courses in the field of higher education, including familiarity with high impact practices for teaching online courses.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in program administration and coordination, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion through teaching, research, and/or service.
  • Experience working with graduate students at the master and doctoral levels, including advising master’s students and doctoral candidates, and serving on doctoral project committees.
  • Interest in contributing to an EdD program in Organizational Leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate level courses on organizational leadership and higher education administration.
  • Serve as a core faculty member and attend department and program-related functions (e.g., program faculty meetings).
  • Provide administrative service to the program.
  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support as needed.
  • Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading.
  • Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties.
  • Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy and trains faculty and other instructional staff in use of said instructional techniques and programs.
  • May administer budget and personnel for instructional grants and programs.
  • Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements.
  • Develops grant proposals for instructional development and may serve as principal or co-principal investigator on grants to develop new teaching methods in the discipline.
  • Designs curriculum and/or techniques for instruction in a disciplinary area and suggests new ways of effective instruction in courses within that discipline.
  • Presents evaluations of teaching methods and techniques to those in the institution and elsewhere.
