Adult Basketball Scorekeeper
About The Position
The City of Ames Parks and Recreation Department has an exciting opportunity for Adult Basketball Scorekeepers! Candidates interested in this opportunity can expect to work 3-8 hours per week, Wednesday and Sunday evenings, starting October 20, 2025, through February 2027. There will be no games during school breaks. Scorekeepers are directly accountable to the Recreation Manager and adjunctly accountable to the Recreation Superintendent and the Director of Parks & Recreation. This posting is open until filled. Requirements
- Strong knowledge of the sport and rules
- Skill in being organized, dependable, reliable individual
- Ability to communicate with adults and peers effectively

- Ability to maintain an exceptional level of safety
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance (staff shirt w/ appropriate athletic shorts or pants) at all times while on site
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor (calm and courteous) at all times while on site
- Must be able to walk quickly or jog in case of emergency
- Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all playing environments are safe
- Enforce all procedures and rules in place at all facilities/locations
- Direct managers to fill out score sheets
- Keep track of score, fouls, possession and time during the game
- Help with set-up as needed
