Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the ADON-LPN acts as a liaison for the facility, performs assigned nursing procedures, and supervises the overall care, treatment, safe functioning, comfort, and well-being of the developmentally disabled individuals at Elmwood Heights. This role also provides nursing consultation services to other Milestone, Inc. programs as assigned and acts as the primary nurse to an assigned group of individuals. The position requires reliable and prompt attendance, flexibility to meet needs, and active participation in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) for evaluating, admitting, and discharging individuals. The ADON-LPN will establish and maintain effective communication with individuals' parents/guardians, provide direction and supervision to facility nurses, assist with interviewing and hiring, and contribute to performance evaluations. This role involves identifying individual needs, consulting on remedial plans, coordinating consultant and physician services, and maintaining clinical records. The ADON-LPN functions as a member of the management team, promoting positive problem-solving and maintaining confidentiality. They will assist in developing and implementing facility policies and procedures related to individual care and departmental needs, ensuring compliance with Public Health and Public Aid standards. The position requires intervention in cases of possible abuse, pursuit of optimum healthcare, and promotion of good community and professional relationships. The ADON-LPN will also assist with medication pass when needed and may provide shift coverage during staffing shortages. Participation in the development of annual facility goals, liaison with community healthcare providers, and consultation with physical and occupational therapists are also key responsibilities. Maintaining effective communication with various staff members and seeking continuing education units for licensure are essential. The role involves participating in QA meetings, intervening physically in crisis situations, assisting with nurses' meetings, monitoring schedules to minimize agency nursing, and assisting staff in emergency situations. The ADON-LPN, along with the DON, is responsible for generating medical reports and attending annual staffing. They also serve as on-call supervisor on a rotating basis and complete other assigned duties to ensure the facility's safe and efficient operation and desirable health outcomes for individuals.
