About The Position
LSS REACH (Resources & Education for Adolescents Choosing Healthy Behaviors) seeks an Intern to advocate for educating adolescents and encouraging healthy relationship skills. This role is ideal for someone interested in helping young people attain healthy relationships and lifestyles. The internship involves supporting the South Dakota Department of Health and at-risk youth throughout South Dakota to reduce the risk of unplanned teen pregnancy, and the spread of STD and HIV. The program promotes and provides education on abstinence, healthy lifestyles, healthy relationships, and healthy adolescent development.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a college program requiring an internship.
- Be at least 20 years old.
- Willing to complete agency background checks.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
- Successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.

Responsibilities
- Assist in coordination and facilitation of classroom sessions for youth, ages 10-19.
- Be trained in several evidence-based curricula and facilitate staff training throughout the state as needed.
- Assist in hosting an annual Positive Youth Development staff conference.
- Establish and maintain relationships with partners to coordinate and implement training programs.
- Complete outreach to increase the implementation of REACH statewide.
