About The Position

The Program Coordinator IV is housed in the School, Adolescent and Child Health Unit (SACH), within the Whole Child Health Section (WCHS) at the Division of Child and Family Well-being. The SACH Unit supports the whole-child approach with a focus in schools, school health centers, child health and care management programs in local health departments and community settings. The Unit employs staff with expertise in nursing, behavioral health, nutrition and school-based health who provide clinical guidance, quality assurance, technical assistance, consultation and training through a variety of programs. The Program Coordinator IV has the primary responsibility for statewide coordination of the development, implementation and evaluation of services provided by School Health Centers. School Health Centers (SHCs) increase access to primary and preventive health care that improves the health status and academic performance of children and adolescents, ages 10 to 19 years. This position also oversees the implementation of the Kenneth Royall Vision Screening Improvement Program through the development, administration, monitoring and evaluation of contracts and grants. The purpose is to provide training and certification of vision screeners across North Carolina in all 100 counties who shall conduct mass and individual vision screening for children of all ages in NC public and public charter schools. This position works in partnership with the Adolescent Health Coordinator cross training and providing support to adolescent health programing within the SACH Unit and Whole Child Health Section.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public or human service administration or a human services programmatic field, from an appropriately accredited institution, and two years of human service experience, one of which must have been in human service program planning; OR Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive administrative or consultative experience in human service program, one of which must have been in human service program planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master's degree in the field of psychology, sociology, or social work from an appropriately accredited institution, and two years of experience in research and evaluation, using statistical methodologies in human service programs; or Bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields of study from an appropriately accredited institution, and four years of experience in research, evaluation, and statistical application in the human service field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
