About The Position

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) is seeking an Admixture Tech II Float to perform complex technical functions in preparing hazardous and non-hazardous agents under the supervision of a dispensing practitioner. This role requires expertise in sterile product preparation, biological safety cabinets, and handling antineoplastic/cytotoxic agents. The Admixture Tech is expected to maintain high productivity and performance while contributing to total patient care. Responsibilities include managing medication and supply inventory, and acting as a liaison between various departments for special order medications. This is a full-time float position supporting multiple clinics in the Gainesville, Palatka, Fleming Island, and Daytona areas, requiring travel of 75%-100% weekly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Professional pharmacy technician certification (or equivalent), required; preferably Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Minimum of one year experience as a pharmacy or admixture technician, preferably in a clinical setting.
  • Medical terminology and attention to detail, required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally to educational and research meetings as well as training sessions.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
  • Must be willing to travel 75%-100% weekly for float positions.
  • Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.

  • IV sterile admixture experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review medication orders for accuracy, product suitability, and necessary agents.
  • Perform mathematical calculations for accurate drug measurements in admixture preparation.
  • Prepare sterile and non-sterile medications accurately and in a timely manner as ordered by the prescriber.
  • Perform proper donning and doffing of garb to ensure aseptic preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous drugs.
  • Understand the appropriate use and limitations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure proper function.
  • Adequately don and doff PPE to prevent damage and reduce contamination spread.
  • Maintain necessary records and logs, including clinical research trials, compassionate/non-billable drugs, waste manifests, biological safety cabinet and mixing room cleaning, refrigerated and ambient drug temperatures, controlled substances, and eye wash stations.
  • Order, stock, and dispense medical supplies and drugs.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, dispensing, auditing, storage, and reconciliation, to ensure patient safety, reduce waste, and maintain product integrity.
  • Complete all education and training required by the organization, state, federal, and regulatory agencies.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous drugs and waste materials following state and federal regulations (USP <797>, USP <800>, OSHA, NIOSH, and State and Federal Departments of Environmental Protection).
  • Assess temperature monitoring systems and track accurate temperatures of ambient and refrigerated drugs.
  • Document and report drug loss, communicate clinic charges, and initiate drug replacement/reimbursement.
  • Collaborate with Patient Financial Navigators and Procurement to track and order patient drugs, minimizing interruptions in care.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Pharmacy Operations Supervisor and Pharmacy Operations Manager.
  • Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the team and FCS.
  • Travel to meet clinic needs, with 75%-100% weekly travel expectation for float positions.
  • Comply with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy.
