About The Position

The Admitting ED Registrar is responsible for efficiently and accurately registering patients seeking medical services. The role focuses on gathering patient information, verifying insurance coverage, and completing admission paperwork. This position is onsite at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, at 243–245 Charles Street, and is scheduled for 20 hours per week on Fridays and Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. It does not require patient care.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Two to three years of experience in a healthcare or customer service role preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in entering patient information and maintaining records.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer proficiency.
Empathy and compassion when assisting patients and families.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information discreetly and professionally.
Strong organizational and time-management skills for a fast-paced admissions environment.

Nice To Haves

Two to three years of experience in a healthcare or customer service role.

Responsibilities

Welcome patients and visitors, obtain their personal and medical information, and enter it into the facility’s electronic health records (EHR) system.
Coordinate with patients and insurance companies to verify coverage and eligibility for medical services.
Assist patients in completing admission forms, consent documents, and other paperwork required for their visit.
Communicate with patients, families, and caregivers about the admissions process, required documents, and necessary preparations.
Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA privacy standards.
