About The Position

San Dimas Community Hospital, a 101-bed facility and member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Patient Account Registrar for its Admitting department. The registrar interviews patients or their representatives to collect demographic information and secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable. The position works with different areas of Admitting, including PBX operator functions and reception areas, and uses a computer to input and retrieve data. The registrar communicates with people across age groups, from neonatal patients through geriatrics, using age-specific techniques, and maintains proficiency in medical terminology. Special projects or other assignments may be given, with completion expected within a specified timeframe. The position is temporary, with a variable shift.

Requirements

High school graduation or GED equivalent is required.
Customer service experience is required.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative.
Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

Interview patients or their representatives to obtain patient demographic information.
Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable.
