About The Position

High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency dedicated to treating and preventing substance use disorders and mental illness. With programs across Southeastern Massachusetts, High Point offers a comprehensive continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. The agency also supports survivors of abuse, violence, and families experiencing homelessness. Requirements

  • Must present as courteous and professional at all times.
  • Possess good telephone manner.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in a logical and clear fashion.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs, including the ability to learn, use, and train HPAHO's electronic medical records.
  • Must have the ability to work with others in a cooperative and collaborative manner.
  • An understanding of the relationship between substance use and mental health issues and/or self-help programs.
  • An understanding of boundaries and ethics.
  • Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Alcohol Abuse Policy and HIPAA Regulations.
  • TB screening.
  • Certification in the HPHAO approved de-escalation program.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience with insurance verification.
  • Experience with mental health and substance use disorders a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests related to admissions inquiries.
  • Enter all available fields in the preadmission screen and intake assessment.
  • Verify eligibility and benefits with appropriate insurance carrier(s).
  • Obtain faxes in accordance with HPHAO policy prior to admission.
  • Obtain approval for admission from the appropriate staff member (if applicable).
  • Schedule approved admissions according to HPHAO policy/procedures.
  • Scan all necessary paperwork and distribute accordingly.
  • Schedule patients in bed management and monitor for vacant beds.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other agencies when necessary.
  • Assist staff/patients in the event of an emergency.
  • Remain informed of current information concerning HPHAO policies/procedures.
  • Notify supervisor of any significant event and/or information concerning the admissions department.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Assist in the orientation of new employees.
  • Respond to TTY calls.
  • Complete preadmission screening and schedule client admissions (if appropriate).
  • Consult with Admissions Director/Admissions Manager/Nurse Manager/Site Director, and/or designees regarding concerns with case consults/referrals for admissions that require further collaboration.
  • Utilize standard precautions at all times.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that recognize the rights of patients/clients as defined by patient’s rights.
  • Attend all departmental/organizational meetings as directed by Supervisor.
  • Attend mandatory training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
