As a compassionate member of the care team, the Admissions Specialist I will welcome patients and their families upon arrival, putting them at ease and setting a positive tone for their visit. This role involves accurately gathering complete demographic information to ensure electronic health record integrity, identifying correct network coverage, and validating healthcare benefits and/or pre-certification for applicable tests and/or procedures to maximize reimbursement. The specialist will also educate patients and families about legal, ethical, and compliance documents, ensure regulatory consents are signed, and explain financial obligations based on the financial policy, preparing estimates and collecting co-payments, deposits, and patient balances. Additionally, they will ensure all payor and government required elements are completed correctly, stay updated on applicable regulations, and maintain customer service and productivity guidelines. This role requires being an engaged and willing partner who mentors peers, exhibits flexibility, and adapts easily to change, while also participating in staff meetings, process improvement, special projects, and other assigned duties. The specialist will maintain daily Epic work queues and their personal Employee Scorecard Dashboard, and stay aware of and accurate with THR contracted insurance plans, communicating Out of Network status and potential financial implications to patients and families.
