Position Summary The Admissions RN- full-time Nights position is responsible for the timely processing of inquiry and referral calls. Responsible for coordination of all admissions processes and serves as liaison to referral sources, families, payors, physicians, unit and hospital personnel involved with each admission. Verify insurance, triage patients, complete assessments, ability to staff clinical effectively, enter calls and admissions in computer and complete all admission paperwork with patient. Effectively communicate with unit staff and assist patient to unit. Pre-cert with payor source. Follow hospital’s policies and procedures regarding admissions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelor Degree
  • Minimum of one (1) years in the area of substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs
  • Registered Nurse with active license and able to work in the state of Texas
  • CPR certification
  • Handle with Care and Verbal De-Escalation training within 30 days of employment prior to assisting in a restraining procedure.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in psychiatric treatment
  • previous experience in intake/admissions and managed care
  • Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, health care team members and community providers.
  • Assess and identify developmental and behavioral functioning of the patient. Document patient responses
  • Effectively employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem solving and crisis intervention when performing intake assessments.
