About The Position

The employee is responsible for coordination of the admission process to the rehabilitation unit by performing the pre-admission screenings, reviewing appropriate clinical and financial information and communicating with the Medical Director in determining admission status. Communicates admission determination status with all referral sources and facilitates the admission of patients to the Physical Rehabilitation Unit. The employee also coordinates the process of providing accurate and timely data to the appropriate entities involved in the Prospective Payment System for Medicare patients. The PPS / Admissions Coordinator oversees all aspects of data collection on the IRF-PAI, ensures presence of supporting documentation and provides staff education to ensure compliance with CMS guidelines. This is a finance-related position requiring clinical skills to develop, implement and manage a successful CMS program from admission to discharge to any related post-discharge reimbursement audit.

Requirements

  • Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse in the state of residence.
  • AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 60 days.
  • If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of the admission process to the rehabilitation unit
  • Performing pre-admission screenings

  • Overseeing all aspects of data collection on the IRF-PAI
  • Ensuring presence of supporting documentation
  • Providing staff education to ensure compliance with CMS guidelines
  • Developing, implementing and managing a successful CMS program from admission to discharge to any related post-discharge reimbursement audit
