About The Position

The Admissions Planner is responsible for maintaining accurate, up-to-date, hospital-wide census and patient bed availability information across all care centers, units, the Emergency Department, the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, the Intra-Hospital Transfer Service, and physician's offices. This role involves anticipating problems, creative problem-solving, generating reports, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Intermediate to Advanced skill level in EPIC system.
• Ability to use data entry, retrieval, and medical database systems.

Responsibilities

• Pre-admits patients to unit or care center, including taking reservations and obtaining demographic and insurance data.
• Admits patients, including verifying demographic and insurance information, and signing of forms.
• Maintains census and charge information, including assigning beds to incoming patients, updating the Admissions, Discharge, Transfer System, and compiling information for proper charge capture.
• Maintains accurate patient incoming and outgoing logs, patient arrival, and updates in the computer.
• Facilitates direction and priorities for Support Associates to clean dirty beds for easy patient placement.
• Answers telephones promptly; provides information and makes referrals when appropriate.
• Operates the pneumatic tube system when required.
• Prints physician prescription cards on an as-needed basis.
