About The Position

The Admissions Evaluator II is responsible for processing graduate and undergraduate applications and supporting documents including applications for special international programs and projects. This position determines admission and readmission eligibility for applicants through a detailed evaluation of submitted credentials and analysis of the completed file and adheres to agreed-upon processing protocols for each of the programs. This position enters data from various sources, updates, and maintains applicant data into the admissions management system, the student information system, and document imaging system, using established workflow protocols to ensure that data from all systems are consistent. The Admissions Evaluator II initiates correspondence, counsels, and assists prospective and enrolled students, faculty, and staff in advising credentials needed to complete the application and admission process and in verifying student status; and assists with data management and cleanup, file scanning, and other duties as assigned. Upon admission for students, this position serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the university’s F-1 population and creates the initial University of Arkansas SEVIS record (Student Exchange Visitor Information System); updates and maintains existing student record in SEVIS regarding admission/enrollment issues, such as change of program, change of major, deferral of enrollment, etc., and issues 1-20 form. Ensure adherence and accuracy in record-keeping and SEVIS reporting requirements utilizing applicable software platforms. This position keeps abreast of changes in federal immigration regulations and policies that affect foreign student SEVIS records; assists with supervision of daily workflow and activities in the Domestic & International Admissions unit; and any other duties as assigned. Attention to detail is a must for this position, as is the ability to handle large volumes of work in a timely manner during peak processing times. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in public administration, general business, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Ability to show United States citizenship or United States permanent resident status, per federal regulation.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years of experience in admissions, document examination, or related area.
  • At least two years of full-time professional experience which provides skills applicable to student advising, understanding and applying federal regulations, and/or inspecting and maintaining student documents.
  • Fluency in any foreign language.
  • Previous work and/or interaction with persons outside the U.S.
  • Skilled in organizing tasks and balancing competing objectives.
  • Excellent people and communication skills to provide professional, timely, and effective support to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability of excellent written and verbal communication.
