About The Position

The Admissions Director supports facility operations by increasing census and managing the admissions process to provide a positive experience for residents, families, and staff. The role directs and monitors the Admissions Department’s daily operations, works toward budgeted census goals, evaluates prospective residents against admission criteria, and coordinates admissions, intake, bed assignments, preliminary paperwork, insurance verification, and required services. The position collaborates with facility leaders, including nursing and case management, and maintains relationships with referral sources to facilitate admissions. It has supervisory responsibilities and may assist with outreach and promotional events.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED at minimum.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers and employees.
Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems involving varied concrete situations with limited standardization.
Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite products.
Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds and potentially assisting with resident evacuation during emergencies.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in health care or a related field.
Two years of admissions experience.
LVN or RN license.

Responsibilities

Manage the admissions process efficiently to provide a positive experience for residents, families, and supporting staff.
Plan, direct, and monitor daily Admissions Department operations to meet budgeted resident census goals and ensure professional, efficient admissions.
Screen prospective patients by comparing their condition with admission criteria and admit patients by completing admission and financial responsibility forms.
Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the Sales and Marketing department’s programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Collaborate with leaders of other facility departments to ensure timely communication and improve the admissions experience.
Confirm that insurance benefit coverage meets admissions standards.
Coordinate physical, social, emotional, and support services, including transportation.
Obtain applicant and medical information; verify and clarify information; interview patients and family members; and explain admission criteria.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of facility services and educate referral sources about services as appropriate.
Oversee patient bed assignments and completion of preliminary admissions paperwork.
Complete resident intake and coordinate with the Director of Nursing and/or Case Manager to confirm admission appropriateness.
Maintain and communicate accurate records of bed availability.
Initiate, nurture, and maintain contacts with physicians, social workers, and discharge planners to maximize referrals and facilitate admissions.
Attend daily stand-up meetings.
Know and follow Standard Precautions, the Exposure Control Plan, and fire drill and evacuation procedures.
Maintain the confidentiality of resident care information, including protected health information, and report known or suspected unauthorized disclosures.
Assist, as directed, with planning and executing outreach events such as health fairs, educational programs, and other promotional events.
Maintain job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and personal networks.
Complete additional facility-specific ongoing tasks and projects as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, positive emphasis, and calm throughout the facility.
