About The Position

This position is based in Stillwater with travel to the Northwest part of Oklahoma. The Admissions Counselor will recruit and assist prospective students to OSU Undergraduate Admissions and meet individual territory and overall admission enrollment goals. The role serves, promotes, and represents the University by being the primary point of contact for prospective students, families, and counselors. Responsibilities include discussing policies/procedures for admission, housing, scholarships/financial aid, and proactively anticipating student needs. The counselor will conduct trend analysis for an assigned territory, formulate action plans, and work with recruitment staff to integrate these into the University's overall enrollment plan. This role requires self-direction, creativity, and strategic thinking in prospect development, yield enhancement, information services, and problem resolution. Strategies for effective outreach in an assigned territory will be determined and executed, including communication and activities to achieve enrollment goals, with measured benchmarks for student contact (calls, texts, emails, personal interactions). The position involves giving presentations to groups about OSU opportunities and participating in recruitment events on and off-campus. Daily office operations, such as answering phones, responding to emails, and greeting guests, are also part of the role. Participation in the development and execution of on and off-campus recruitment, conversion, and yield activities/events to market Oklahoma State University to prospective students is expected. An essential function is maintaining a personalized public presence in various environments like high schools and college fairs. This may include the publication of full name, work contact information, and recruitment activity details. Potential travel (in-state and out-of-state) away from campus or regional office multiple times per month, ranging from 1 to 12 days, with overnight stays often required. The position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, contingent upon University Human Resources approval.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree conferred prior to or upon start date
  • Admissions Counselor I: One year related experience
  • Admissions Counselor II: Two years related experience
  • Senior Admissions Counselor I: Three years related experience
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • This job requires a high level of internal and external public contact serving as a liaison between the Admissions Office, various academic units and other organizations within the university.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and technical skills are necessary.
  • Knowledge of MS applications.
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs.

  • Assist with daily office operations including answering phones, responding to emails, greeting, and providing counsel to prospective students, families, and guests to meet our customer service goals.
  • Participate in the development and execution of on and off-campus recruitment, conversion, and yield activities/events designed to market Oklahoma State University to prospective freshman (and transfer) students.
  • Maintain a personalized public presence in a wide range of environments such as high schools, college fairs, and community locations.
  • Potentially travel (in-state and out-of-state) away from campus and/or regional office multiple times per month with the duration ranging from 1 to 12 days.
