As a member of the admissions team at The Ohio State University at Newark, the Admissions Counselor will spend the greatest amount of time through the year performing job responsibilities related to managing a recruitment territory, executing territory-specific recruitment activities and events, and using data to make recruitment decisions. This role involves developing and maintaining positive relationships with high schools, community-based organizations, and community colleges. The counselor will travel to these institutions and college fairs to represent The Ohio State University, with possible travel within the state of Ohio up to 7 weeks per year. Additionally, the position requires making recruitment calls to prospective students and utilizing the CRM (Salesforce), Student Information System (Peoplesoft), and other technologies for timely and accurate database entries regarding student application information, call/email/text activity, and other processes. Additional responsibilities include counseling and corresponding with students, families, university departments, and other stakeholders regarding application and enrollment policies, procedures, and general information via phone, email, and in person. The role also involves conducting large and small-group presentations, learning and maintaining knowledge of office and university areas to direct questions, researching and resolving problems, assisting with recruitment events and projects, coordinating recruitment for special programs (e.g., transfer, veterans, College Credit Plus), serving as a coordinator for administrative tasks supporting recruitment and enrollment, carrying out steps and coordinating with colleagues and campus partners, participating as an active community member of the admissions team, and completing special assignments.
