About The Position

Daemen University is seeking an Admissions Counselor to represent the institution to prospective students and organizations, with the goal of increasing inquiries and converting applications into enrolled students. The successful candidate will provide superior customer service and professionalism in all interactions, including interviews, phone calls, emails, and information sessions. This role involves creating and implementing recruitment strategies through various channels such as events, referrals, online and print communications, and outreach to businesses and organizations. The Admissions Counselor will discuss Daemen University programs and services, travel to recruitment events, and engage positively with stakeholders. A key responsibility is to complete weekly activity reports documenting recruitment efforts and student appointments. The role requires working towards college-wide enrollment goals, utilizing outstanding customer service to recruit students, and reviewing applications to make enrollment decisions based on Daemen's admission standards for first-year, transfer, and graduate student candidates. While the role may specialize, familiarity with engaging each type of student candidate is preferred. Communication with prospective students via phone, email, and mail is essential for providing superior service and ensuring completed application files, with efforts to increase retention. The counselor will become familiar with their assigned territory and demographics to effectively reach the student population and collaborate with the alumni network for referrals. Participation in university events such as information sessions, orientations, registration events, and graduation is expected. The ability to work independently, arrange information sessions, set appointments, and promote the University positively is crucial. The role also requires treating colleagues, students, and guests with civility, refraining from disruptive activities, following directions accurately, and accepting supervisory input. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods during travel and college fair recruitment. Other duties as needed will also be performed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an earned Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Working knowledge of college purpose and function.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators and staff.
  • A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends is required.
  • Travel, valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.

Responsibilities

  • Discuss Daemen University programs and services accurately to prospective students and families.
  • Travel to and from recruitment events; engage in key stakeholders in a positive, proactive, and engaging manner.
  • Complete weekly activity report to include documentation of recruitment/ outreach activities and student appointments.
  • Review applications and make enrollment decisions based on Daemen's admission standards for first year, transfer, and graduate student candidates.
  • Utilize phone, email, and mail to communicate with prospective students in a timely manner, providing superior student service.
  • Work with prospective students to garner completed application files prior to enrollment and efforts to increase retention.
  • Become familiar with working territory and demographics of cities/towns in that area to best reach the student population for Daemen University.
  • Collaborate with our growing alumni network to develop new student/professional networks, garner student referrals.
  • Participate in the events prior, during, and after each term such as information sessions, orientations, registration events and graduation.
  • Arrange information sessions, set appointments and promote the University in a positive manner.
  • Treat fellow employees, students and the institution's guests with civility, and to refrain from activities that disrupt the efficient functioning of the University.
  • Follow directions and complete tasks accurately as well as accept supervisory input and constructive criticism.
  • Lift 25 lbs. and stand for an extended period of time as part of travel and college fair recruitment.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
