About The Position

Metro State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and four-time recipient of the Insight into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire at least one Admissions Counselor. This is a full-time position within the Admissions department.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree plus one year of professional experience OR two years of professional experience OR an equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education, and/or professional experience.
  • Experience in college admissions, student services, recruiting, academic advising, sales, marketing, and/or related experience working with post-traditional students in an urban environment with diverse populations.
  • Excellent public speaker, demonstrated ability to write concisely and accurately, and documented organizational skills and experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, with occasional nights and weekends.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Twin Cities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience serving students, community members, partners, and organizations from marginalized communities (Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Somali or Hmong a plus .
  • Experience collaborating with post-traditional learners.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic multi-campus organization within a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be articulate and possess outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work as a team member to achieve departmental goals and objectives is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and counsel prospective students on the admissions policies and procedures for admission to Metro State University.
  • Responsible for developing and managing annual recruitment plan for individual territory.
  • Participate as Admissions representative on various institution-wide committees and teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.
