About The Position

The Admissions Counselor works under the supervision of the Director of Admissions and is responsible for assisting in the recruitment and enrollment of prospective students. Evening, early morning, and occasional weekend hours are required as well as travel.

Requirements

  • All employees at UACCM must have a commitment to work cooperatively with all campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of UACCM, and have the ability to deliver quality customer services.
  • Bachelor’s degree in college student personnel, educational administration, business administration, education, or a related field
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to individuals and large groups.
  • Proficient in the use of computer software and applications, such as but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Able to perform basic research, analyze information, and prepare reports in a logical and informative manner.
  • Able to recognize and solve problems, organize and prioritize work, multi-task, and be flexible and accepting of change.
  • Able to work independently and cooperatively with a team to achieve the mission/goal.
  • Able to work effectively and cooperatively with people of various cultural backgrounds.
  • Able to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of campus and community resources.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and campus rules, regulations, and requirements related to campus academic and social programs.
  • Able to move about freely and lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of the minimum qualifications upon approval of the Chancellor.
  • One-year higher education experience or a related area
  • Master’s degree in college student personnel, counseling, education, or a related field
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in Spanish are beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the college in a professional manner at recruitment activities such as high school visits, college fairs, job fairs, adult education center visits, etc.
  • Builds relationships with high school counselors and other constituents to promote UACCM and gain increased access to prospective students and/or parents.
  • Schedules recruitment activities to promote enrollment to the College.
  • Schedules and administers college placement testing at high schools to aid in the recruiting of students.
  • Assists in meeting the objectives and goals of the Enrollment Management Plan.
  • Develops and delivers engaging presentations on the benefits of attending college, specifically UACCM, curriculum choices, financial aid options, etc.
  • Conducts campus tours and counsels prospective students and families including both scheduled appointments and walk-ins.
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, high school counselors, and other constituents about the admissions process, financial aid options, curriculum choices, and UACCM support services.
  • Maintains timely and informative communication with prospective students throughout the enrollment process via text message, phone, video chat, email, and/or other recruitment campaigns as assigned.
  • Assists in the scheduling and organization of group campus tours.
  • Processes admission documents and evaluates eligibility for acceptance.
  • Monitors and assists in recruitment data management with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensures accessibility of digital documents and communication.
  • Seeks to maintain thorough institutional knowledge of processes and offerings including but not limited to career and technical programs, transfer programs, concurrent enrollment opportunities, honors program, workforce training, scholarships, support services, etc.
  • Maintains current knowledge and best practices in the field of admissions by attending local, state, regional, or national conferences and meetings.
  • Actively serves and participates on campus committees, as assigned.
  • Provides updates to the Director of Admissions of issues, opportunities, operations, and needs within the Office of Admissions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
