St. Charles Health System is a 13-bed acute rehabilitation unit dedicated to helping patients who are recovering from various injuries or illnesses. In partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation, this facility provides 24 hours of nursing care and intensive inpatient therapy to provide an outstanding experience and quality outcomes for all of the patients we serve. As an Admissions Coordinator, you will work under the direction of the Director of Business Development and be responsible for patient admissions, insurance verification and other insurance verification duties as directed. You will be responsible for obtaining the necessary demographic information of the patient which may require interviewing patients or their representatives. This position is also responsible for preparing/processing admitting forms and keeps abreast of all new insurance updates and regulations. Direct supervisory for all admissions associates.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Extensive knowledge of insurance and their benefits and admitting forms.
• Proficiency in recording admission reservations.
• Basic computer knowledge including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Ability to deal tactfully with patients, hospital staff and the general public.

Nice To Haves

• Some college preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Admitting and/or medical insurance preferred.
• Experience in handling patient admissions preferred.
• Management experience preferred.
• Med-Surg hospitals and systems (for profit and non-profit) knowledge desired

Responsibilities

• Assist and coordinate in-take and pre-admission screening process
• Perform on-site (typically in referring facility) clinical judgment to determined appropriateness of patient for admission
• Communicates to patients and families rehabilitation and facility options.
• Communicates to patients determined appropriate for admission the patient’s expectations and requirements for participation
• Secures information relating to patients resources and benefits
• Functions as initial contact for external case management and discharge planner personnel with payors and hospital facilities
• Other duties as assigned
