About The Position

PeaceHealth Springfield Rehabilitation Hospital is opening a brand-new inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) in 2026. As an Admissions Coordinator, you will work under the direction of the Director of Business Development and be responsible for patient admissions, insurance verification, and other related duties. You will gather necessary demographic information, which may involve interviewing patients or their representatives, and prepare/process admitting forms. This role also requires staying updated on insurance updates and regulations and provides direct supervision for all admissions associates.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance and their benefits and admitting forms.
  • Proficiency in recording admission reservations.
  • Basic computer knowledge including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with patients, hospital staff and the general public.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance to reflect proper image for the hospital and the board members, medical staff, community leaders and fellow employees.
  • Must have good organizational skills and analytical ability in order to interpret information, and carry out duties independently

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Admitting and/or medical insurance preferred.
  • Experience in handling patient admissions preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Med-Surg hospitals and systems (for profit and non-profit) knowledge desired

Responsibilities

  • Assist and coordinate in-take and pre-admission screening process
  • Perform on-site (typically in referring facility) clinical judgment to determined appropriateness of patient for admission
  • Communicates to patients and families rehabilitation and facility options.
  • Communicates to patients determined appropriate for admission the patient’s expectations and requirements for participation
  • Secures information relating to patients resources and benefits
  • Functions as initial contact for external case management and discharge planner personnel with payors and hospital facilities
  • Other duties as assigned
