About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for an Admissions Clerk to join our team! This role is responsible for accurately scheduling patients for appointments and procedures, arranging for the efficient admission of patients to the clinic, and ensuring patient information is collected and entered into the computer system accurately. The Admissions Clerk will also ensure patients are aware of office policies and procedures and must maintain a 95% accuracy rate quarterly on all admissions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or higher.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Minimum of three month’s related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use hospital information system, electronic medical record and operate basic computer functions and software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively to patients, their families, referring offices, diagnostic and therapeutic facilities via phone, fax, computerized ordering systems and in person.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate ratios and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
  • Ability to work well with others as a team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Terminology is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling patients to be seen in the office.
  • Accurately obtaining appropriate histories, prior diagnostic tests results, and all other necessary information to facilitate constructive patient visits to the office.
  • Verifying healthy connection referrals are in place, if required.
  • Obtaining signature on Condition of Admission forms.
  • Gathering correct information for proper insurance submission.
  • Communicating appropriately and clearly to the supervisor, coworkers, and physicians to facilitate good daily work flow.
  • Checking for cancellations daily through reminder calls.
  • Scheduling return appointments and procedures.
  • Preparing charts/paperwork/consents for the following days patients.
  • Receiving patient payments or a co-payment as required.
  • Posting transactions appropriately to the system.
  • Counting money drawer and verifying correct amount at the beginning and ending of every shift.
  • Complying with all PCI standards and other company policies and procedures for payment card acceptance and security.
  • Maintaining office records, reports, and files as required.
  • Knowing office policies and being familiar with what services are available through the office.
  • Demonstrating an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
  • Treating patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensuring confidentiality of patients’ records.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with in the office as well as with outside contacts.
  • Participating in educational programs, completing annual educational requirements, and attending in-service meetings as required.
  • Attending all other meetings as required.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintaining a 95% accuracy rate on quarterly report card.
  • Maintaining accurate time clock punches, punching in and out according to office policy.
  • Answering incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner.
  • Maintaining a professional attitude.
  • Wearing appropriate clothing according to dress code.
  • Willing to become a certified medical coder if opportunity arises.
  • Accepting and completing other duties as assigned or requested.
