About The Position

The Administrator is responsible for the overall management of the facility, ensuring compliance with government regulations, regulatory standards, and facility policies to protect the health, safety, and welfare of residents and staff. The Administrator ensures that all residents receive quality care and that all essential needs are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (as required by the state's s Board of Examiners of Nursing Facility Administrators)
  • Active Nursing Facility Administrator License (appropriate state)
  • Freedom from illegal use of drugs.
  • Freedom from use and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
  • Not found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the overall operation of the facility and direction of the workforce.
  • Overseeing all departments within the facility for program management, effectiveness, and efficiency, and maintaining accountability.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of programs within the facility and taking initiative to try new methods and use best practices.
  • Implementing all policies established by Legacy; advising on the formation of such policies and reporting on implementation failures and successes.
  • Supervising the business affairs of the facility to ensure that funds are collected and expended to the best possible advantage.
  • Ensuring department managers are aware of their respective budgets and adhere to them.
  • Participating and orchestrating Daily QA (morning) Meetings, Monthly/ Quarterly QA, Safety Committee Meetings, Resident Council Meetings when requested, Care Plan Meetings, in-service trainings, continuing education programs, and all other meetings called by Legacy or licensing entities.
  • Leading the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT Team).
  • Reviewing operating results of the organization, comparing them to established objectives, and taking steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Developing, auditing, and updating the facility Emergency Preparedness Plan and overseeing operations during an emergency situation.
  • Being on-site or nearby during an emergency that requires evacuation or sheltering-in-place (unless unexpected).
  • Selecting, employing, monitoring, disciplining, training, and discharging staff regarding the best interests of the residents and the facility.
  • Completing evaluations of department managers and ensuring department managers complete evaluations of their line staff.
  • Developing and enforcing personnel policies and practices of the facility.
  • Ensuring maintenance of physical properties in good, safe repair and operation.
  • Presenting to corporate designee reports of financial activities and other special reports required by Legacy.
  • Making rounds being visible and available to staff and residents.
  • Ensuring that the facility maintains accreditation, licensing, and quality resident care through the establishment of quality assurance/performance improvement monitoring programs (QAPI) and standards.
  • Assuming the responsibility of regulatory compliance including all federal, state, local regulations, and accrediting organization standards.
  • Preparing a plan for the achievement of the facility's specific objectives and mutually established goals and periodically reviewing and evaluating such plan.
  • Ensuring the adequacy and appropriateness of the facility's scope of services for residents, its professional and support staff, and its medical equipment.
  • Participating in community events and marketing plans and programs.
  • Ensuring all resident care is performed in an environment that optimizes resident and staff safety and reduces the likelihood of injury and medical/health care errors.
  • Being respectful to employees while ensuring a professional and pleasant working environment.
  • Making introductory visits with new residents and employees timely.
  • Attending new hire orientation program when requested to greet and brief new employees on the facility mission and Administrator's role in the building.
  • Reviewing referrals as needed for approval/ denial based on clinical and financial situation.
  • Being available via telephone with reasonable response time (not exceeding 2 hours) or notifying Regional Supervisor, corporate designee, or appropriate facility staff prior to unavailability.
  • Working beyond normal working hours (occasionally on weekends, holidays, and after hours) and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  • Acting in ways that promote professional and positive representation of the facility to the community.
  • Communicating in a professional and courteous manner using effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills with residents, their families, co-workers, and vendors.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of department, resident, employee information, communication, and documentation as well as compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
  • Clocking in and out for all working/training hours.
  • Maintaining compliance with Legacy's Compliance program and plan.
  • Adhering to Legacy's Code of Conduct and Dress Code.
