About The Position

Taking care of dependent persons is a lifestyle choice that requires dedication and a commitment to serving others. This role involves accepting the responsibility for providing proper care and service to residents who depend on others for assistance. The Administrator is responsible for the overall operation and functioning of the home, ensuring it maintains an organized program to provide room and board, protection, supervision, assistance, and supervised personal care for its residents. The position also requires ensuring compliance with the home’s mission statement, which is to provide the highest quality care and service in the safest way possible, within financial limitations, to older adults. The goal is to be the assisted living home of choice for residents and an employer of choice for personnel.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Have education, training, and/or experience related to the population served by the home.
  • Be capable of assuring program planning, development, and implementation of services to residents consistent with the home’s program statement and in accordance with the residents’ service plan and agreements.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including innovative and critical thinking.
  • Must be proficient in electronic communication and become familiar with the technology used in the living center – including ONSHIFT, ECP, EMAR, ATMOS, OUTLOOK, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals: residents, family members, staff, community representatives, etc.

  • Able to fulfill all essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations under the ADA.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS in administration, however, a combination of formal education and work experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the home maintains an organized program to provide room and board, protection, supervision, assistance, and supervised personal care for its residents.
  • Ensure the availability of emergency medical care required by a resident.
  • Overall responsibility for day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring compliance with HPM Operations Policies and Procedures, Financial Policies and Procedures, Home for the Aged regulations (including Fire and Life Safety), ORBIS and Employee Handbook, and best practices for assisted living homes.
  • Serve as the Privacy Official as the point of contact for HIPAA related issues and training.
  • Perform regular inspections of kitchen, laundry rooms, boiler rooms, janitor closets, and other “out of the public eye” locations to ensure proper cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, including the adequate number of people with the right skills and competencies, properly assigned throughout the house to ensure resident needs are met in a timely and proper manner.
  • Manage community relations, including outreach marketing to achieve and maintain occupancy within budget expectations.
  • Hold all personnel accountable for their individual roles and responsibilities within the house. The Administrator is ultimately accountable for compliance with all requirements of operating this assisted living center.
  • Meet regularly with Department managers individually and collectively at least weekly. Lead daily “huddles” or “stand up meetings” such as “10 at 10” (10 minutes, at 10:00 AM) to encourage open and clear communication.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate communication of incidents, events, concerns and challenges to Corporate Team member(s), Licensing Consultant, ORBIS personnel, and Resident family members/authorized representatives.
  • Manage financial controls, including direct and delegated responsibilities: ensure timely collection and deposit of accounts receivable, expenditures within budgeted guidelines, occupancy within budgeted guidelines (maintain at 96% or greater), and timely assessments and accurate fee for service charges.
  • Assure timely recognition of employee performance, including reviews (90 day and annual), coaching, counseling, disciplinary action, and appreciation/positive recognition of performance and service.
  • Be ON-CALL and responsible for overall operations of the ALC 24/7.
  • Communicate with ORBIS, Worker’s Comp, as needed.
  • Ensure prompt, positive customer service.
  • Ensure the building is maintained to HPM standards – in and out.
  • Participate in the Manager on Duty rotation.
  • Comply with Life Safety policies and participate in periodic drills.
  • Participate in educational and training opportunities.
  • Report safety and health hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Report any observed concerns or changes in a resident to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Treat all residents with dignity, respect and compassion.
  • Act as a good will ambassador for this assisted living center.
  • Report to work on-time, as scheduled.
  • Work cooperatively with all personnel associated with this assisted living center.
  • Comply with rules of Resident Rights.
  • Comply with HIPAA Privacy rules.
  • Comply with the guidelines of the Employee Handbook for this assisted living center.
  • Follow Universal Precautions and good infection control practices.

Benefits

  • Wage or Salary and benefits as stated in the Employee Handbook.
  • Eligible for 2% increase in pay rate after 90 days of employment with a satisfactory review.
  • Annual increase in pay rate is merit based, as determined by a comprehensive, written performance review conducted by the Director of Operations and Corporate Team members.
