About The Position

To provide the necessary educational, vocational, and leadership skills needed to attain the goals established by the Director of Adult and Continuing Education.

Requirements

Connecticut Intermediate/Administrative Supervisory Certificate 092
Experience working in adult education, specifically adult basic education, high school diploma program, GED, basic skills, and ESL.
An ability to deal with a wide variety of people and problems.
Ability to relate to both native and foreign born adults who need social and academic advice.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.

Responsibilities

In the absence of the director, the night supervisor must be responsible for the safe and orderly climate of the adult education facility.
Implements State mandated educational programs of Americanization/Citizenship, limited English proficiency and High School Completion.
Arranges, plans and implements mandated testing requirements for all students.
Supervises data collection for the LACES system.
Assists in the evaluation process for staff members.
To assist both professional and non-professional staff members to help them perform their duties.
Provide academic, career, and life skills counseling to adult students.
Refer adults to appropriate agencies.
Contact appropriate substitute teachers for night school.
Perform such other related tasks as the Director may assign.
