About The Position

The Administrator in Training (AIT) preceptor program is a paid internship designed to prepare an individual for a successful career as an Administrator in Long Term Care. This program will be in Aroostook county.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university in Administration, Health Care Administration, Long-Term Care Administration
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a health-related field, such as nursing, social work, psychology
  • Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university in any field, plus proof of one (1) of the following: A Certificate of Advanced Study in Long Term Care Administration from an accredited college, Twelve (12) semester hour credits from an accredited college with not fewer than six (6) in management and the balance in health care (applicant must also submit the Educational Worksheet).
  • Baccalaureate degree in healthcare, healthcare administration, long term care administration, nursing, social work, or psychology.
  • 5 years of professional work experience.
  • Desire to lead a successful facility management team.
  • Passion for the delivery of care and services to our elderly population is a must.
  • Willingness to relocate.

  • Masters preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop actionable leadership skills and highly functioning teams
  • Rotate through all departments to acquire knowledge of and experience within the functional operations areas of a facility; including Nursing, Food Services, Social Services, Activities, Housekeeping, Laundry, Human Resources, Account Management, and Maintenance.
  • Develop strong business acumen: Financial management, budget planning, and associated reimbursement systems i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, private insurers, etc.
  • Set, measure, and maintain key performance indicators (KPI) and high-quality care outcomes.
  • Develop workforce, including Recruiting and Retaining staff, in long term care environments and diverse markets.
  • Understand and build expertise in compliance, regulation, and laws that guide our business and services.
  • Learn and implement a Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) approach to providing care, delivering service, and managing your workforce.
  • Build marketing strategies to support census and mix targets.
  • Demonstrate effective community relations; how we fit into the community as a service and a healthcare resource.
  • Successfully complete the State of Maine and Federal requirements established for the licensing of Multi-level Long Term Care Administrators.
